The Mono Awards 2023, sponsored by SanDisk, is proud to announce its exceptional winners for this year. As this prestigious competition enters its fifth year, it continues to attract the most talented black and white photographers from our region, showcasing their remarkable skills and creativity.
Diverse Excellence in Three Categories
This year’s victors represent a diverse range of photographic excellence. Tony Sernack, with his brilliantly captured camouflaged leopard in India, stands out as one of the winners. Tebani Slade impresses with a cleverly composed street photograph that captures the essence of urban life. Mark Ditcham’s image of a seemingly simple grass tree reveals complexity in its intricate details. These remarkable entries have shared honors in the competition.
Competing for Prestigious Prizes
Photographers in the People, Places, and Animals categories competed for a total of $12,000 in cash and prizes. The high level of competition saw more than 4,000 images submitted this year, reflecting the growing prestige and recognition of The Mono Awards.
Our esteemed judging panel included Anthony McKee, Dan Rule, Justine Ellis, Alex Cearns OAM, Andrea Bruce, Chris Budgeon, Meg Hewitt, Jay Collier, Matt Palmer, William Long, Mike Langford, and Jackie Ranken. Their meticulous evaluation was essential in selecting this year’s winners, a task that was undoubtedly challenging given the outstanding quality of the submissions.
